Have you ever heard a voice talk to you, which you believe came from heaven? Ok, crazy right? In this week’s blog we are taking a break from procrastination and begin to explore the upcoming book I wrote entitled, Tide Turners which was inspired by a voice I heard. Over the course of the next several weeks until the launch date of January 17th 2017, I will provide you an inside peak into the book and what you can expect.
It was in the fall of 2014 where I first experienced such a voice, returning home from a work trip. It was a cloudy day and I entered the plane with an upgrade to first class. I took my seat in 2A by the window and settled in for the flight. After takeoff, the plane lifted above the clouds and it was a beautiful sight. Pure bright sunshine and clear skies.
I reached down and fired up my laptop and connected to the gogo wireless system and begin to attack the barrage of email. It’s funny the number of emails you receive in less than 8 hours. I began to work through the email and I am feeling great, given the inbox is depleting. The flight is smooth and I recall turning my head and looking out the window.
Upon looking out the window, I hear a voice. The voice says, “WRITE A BOOK”. I immediately disregarding this so called voice and go back to working on email.
After a minute or so, I turn and look out the window and the voice says, “WRITE A BOOK”. “What, I say.” I stop working on email and then begin to have this conversation with the voice. I say, “I didn’t go to school to be an author”, “I don’t know how to write a book”, “My company just laid people off and I have more responsibility”, “I don’t have time”, “I was told by my boss I’m not good at grammar and sentence structure”, and the conversation goes along like this. Of course I am not saying this out loud, this conversation is going on in my head.
I stop and take a break from this conversation and suddenly I find myself reaching in my bag for my 8 x 5 note pad and I begin to write down possible titles for a so called book. My laptop is closed and I put it in my bag and I find myself coming up with titles.
Let me know tell you, I have NEVER dreamed or had a desire to be an author. In fact, there was a period in my life, I wasn’t much of a reader. If I read anything it was fiction, I loved John Grisham books but as of 2014, I found myself reading many nonfiction books. I was absorbing a book a month and loved reading positive psychology/self-help books.
When I arrived home, I told my wife what occurred on the flight and I showed her possible titles for this book. She didn’t laugh or ask questions such as “You don’t know how to write a book” or anything negative. She tells me which title she likes best and I told her I will get started on the book tomorrow.
Let me remind you at this point, I don’t how to put together a book or even start, but I get up early the next morning and begin writing down possible chapters and daily begin to write.
Many would say the voice was my intuition talking to me, some would say my gut or others would say it was my subconscious talking with me. Regardless of your belief about a voice, there was something magical which occurred on that flight. I believe the voice came from heaven.
I believe if we are open to hearing things which require us to step out of our comfort zone, the right people will come along in your life, to help you step out of your comfort zone. I was blessed to find Kary Oberbrunner founder of Author Academy Elite who showed me how to write a book. There are others who were instrumental in helping me push this book forward and today this book is available on Amazon.
So what voice have you recently heard which asked you to do something? I know, you probably had an argument or committed to do something and never went forward with it. I realize it takes courage and a major commitment plus faith to follow on something you feel is completely uncomfortable.
Brian Tracy said, “Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.”
If you are willing to push away from the dock and try something new, you will experience things you never thought imaginable. I know have, through this writing process and you must realize through consistent effort and perseverance you can achieve.
Have you ever thought about writing a book? I’d recommend you take the time to watch this webinar by my author coach which will explain the process of writing a book. You can find the webinar here.
If you’d like to take a look at Tide Tuners, you can find it on amazon.
To give you an early idea of what the book contains, you can view the book trailer.
Listen to that voice and be willing to push away from the dock to experience new things and decide to take action, which will propel you forward in life. I did and I trust when you read Tide Turners, it will encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone.
Have a great week and we will get back to looking at procrastination next week.
