The 12 Gifts You Will Not Find Under The Tree

The idea of giving a gift that someone truly desires isn’t possible.

How that be? I’m sure you are asking yourself. You’ve asked your loved ones what they desire for a gift and then attempt to find that gift. You’ve done the work and now it’s time to give them what they asked to receive.

Your loved one opens the gift with joy and says, “Thank you”, but deep down inside it’s not truly aligned to what they really desire.

Things Appear To Be The Gift

The holidays are my favorite time of year. The house is decorated inside and out, the candles lit give off a wonderful piney scent and the tree is illuminated with lights and ornaments.

Regardless of your stance on this holiday, I personally love the reason for why we celebrate Christmas.

Have you ever said you wanted something to please someone, but you didn’t really want it?

Have you ever went along with something, given it was just easier?

If you are truthful with yourself, you answered “Yes” to the above questions.

Inside every individual is something which is desired and this time of the year it’s expected that a gift – that “thing” will be what will fuffill someone.

Last year published an article entitled, Holiday Depression outlining that holiday celebrations are but anything but that for many people and depression is common during the holidays.

Real Things Are Not Seen

One of my favorite holiday movies is The Polar Express. A few years ago I made the DVD purchase, so our family could watch it ever year.

Inside this wonderful tale, is a young boy who doesn’t believe in Christmas and is transformed and then believes.

The conductor in the movie says, ” Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see.”

Only You Can Provide The Gift You Desire

Brendon Burchard said, “The power plant doesn’t have energy, it generates energy.”

You have to generate the intangible gift. Many people feel others are needed to generate their gift or give them what they need. This is a false belief and can lead one to apathy.

The power lies within you to provide your own gift, which you desire. It isn’t found under a tree but can be found within oneself.

It takes you to look within, to awaken and find that gift which you so desire to help you survive within and grow.

The Look Within

Looking within begins when you become still. To do this, shut off all the noise of the day, turn the TV off, shut down your email and close out of all apps on your device and be still.

Once in silence, write these words at the top of the page or in your journal, “I desire ________.”

Write down what comes to mind, however focus on what is not seen, that which is not an object, device, latest tool, vacation but rather something internal, which will push you forward in your professional and personal journey.

To assist your desire ideation process, here is a list of 12 gifts you will not find in boxes under the tree.
